We worked with Lucy to provide a bespoke training course for project managers. Her understanding of accessibility best practice and her experience of working with real world projects is excellent and provided the team with invaluable knowledge.

Lucy is not only extremely able and efficient, she is also possessed of an incredibly sunny disposition which she brings to all of her encounters.

I had the pleasure and priviledge of presenting a library of videos for the BBC's My Web My Way website. Throughout, Lucy was effectient, creative, cooperative and always went the extra mile in order to make my job as presenter of the videos easier and smoother.

Having worked with Lucy on a number of projects including most recently the Channel 4 Paralympics site usability study I can highly recommend her work. There are few people I've met in the industry who have a more thorough knowledge of web accessibility and, importantly, how to apply it practically and usably (rather than just rattling off WCAG). She is an expert in a field that is still very poorly understood by most.

In addition to her accessibility background she is also a skilled usability engineer with a natural aptitude for organisation and a lovely positive energy that makes her a joy to work with on projects.

She is refreshingly candid about the work that needs doing and she has a genuine focus on what works best for the product audience rather than just what the client wants to hear. I should add that despite sharing a surname - we aren't related!"

Lucy has held an extremely important role as Accessibility & Usability Specialist at BBC Future Media and Technology and has demonstrated excellent judgement in making vital decisions on policy and delivery regarding the accessibility of flagship BBC online projects (such as the home page of bbc.co.uk, the iPlayer and EPG and many other areas of the site) and in user persona development. She has also worked with other teams to ensure accessibility is always high on the priority list across BBC FM&T and beyond.

It has always been a pleasure working with Lucy in the six or so years we have been working on BBC projects together and she will be a key asset to any organisation or team she is part of.

I was commissioned by the BBC Academy to create an elearning course for BBC staff on making external BBC websites accessible for the audience. Lucy was my main Subject Matter Expert and I found her to be knowledgeable about her subject and her target audience and creative and inclusive in the way she helped us to develop the course. She aims high and won't be satisfied with second best. She's also good fun to work with - I hope we have more opportunities in the future to work together.

I worked with Lucy on several BBC projects and found her knowledge and professionalism impressive. She applies herself rigorously to research projects and her attention to detail reaps the rewards of quality and insight. Lucy is an accessibility champion in the true sense and can look past technology to real people. Most importantly she is approachable, friendly and fun to work with; I would very happily work with Lucy again.

Lucy was a phenomenal member of the team. The area of Accessibility in User Experience & Design is relatively nascent - yet Lucy is at the top of her game. Moreover she is a pleasure to work with day to day and delivers positive energy and productive morale to those around her - on either side of the table.

I worked with Lucy when I was the Editor of Standards & Guidelines for the BBC. She was an unbelievable help to me. Not only extremely hard working, efficient and organised, Lucy is also very personable. She always tried to help me, whether it be related to an obscure accessibility query, or to let me know who was responsible for what, and in which team. Having worked at the BBC as long as she has, she knows practically everyone! I used her as a sounding board many times, whether that be for ideas I had to reorganise standards, or changes that I thought needed to be made to accessibility standards. In fact, whenever I needed a definitive answer to an accessibility-related standards question more often than not Lucy would know the answer immediately.
I am lucky enough to have worked alongside Lucy, and even luckier to count her as one of my friends.

Lucy is a very experienced and practical specialist in dealing with accessibility issues and the design of products to meet the needs of the widest possible audience. Lucy helped me on a number of products to develop pragmatic solutions for some difficult problems, not just in the design itself, but also in how to communicate and explain changes we were making and to find the right experts to help deliver and test designs.

Overall she is great to work with and comes with the ability to understand detailed points of view from the audience using a product, the designers designing the product, the developers building it and stakeholders watching it, which is a great combination of things to be able to balance.

Lucy has a deep passion and extensive knowledge of accessibility. She always championed the best user experience, from an accessibility point of view, and provided support and expert advice to many people from all disciplines across the BBC. She was highly driven, self-motivated, conscientious and productive whilst at the same time being a friendly, easy-going colleague. The BBC is recognised for it's high standards of accessibility and this is in no small part down to Lucy's sustained efforts. I couldn't recommend her highly enough...
